Christopher Squier
Disturbances (La Pedrera) 2023
Colored pencil on Bristol vellum paper;
11 x 17 inches
(27.9 x 43.2 centimeters)
Christopher Squier is a visual artist based in Brooklyn, New York. Through writing, drawing, and installation, he explores optics and the role of light in contemporary visual culture. His practice engages research and poetics around luminescence, transparency, and invisibility to position vision as a historically-altered and politically-contentious experience. His colored pencil drawings translate the “ripple tank experiments” photographed by Berenice Abbott in the 1940s–50s into events on paper.
