Day 1.
Elke Luyten performs Marina Abramovic’s The House With The Ocean View at the Royal Academy in London.
From October 5 to October 16th, artist/performer, Elke Luyten will live in the Royal Academy gallery for twelve days subsisting only on water. Her daily rituals will be public and take place on three connected elevated platforms. Her only activities will be quotidian repetitions and interaction with the public.
This durational work was first performed by Abramovic in 2002 at Sean Kelly Gallery and is now being performed for Marina Abramovic’s three-month retrospective. It will be performed three times by three different artists. (See photo)
Elke Luyten originally from Hasselt, Belgium, lives and works in Newburgh, NY.
