As Pasha Radetzki's public art work, Lov-ego= LOV at Union Square draws to a close on November 5th, we invite you to attend his collaborative interdisciplinary performance with Jodie Lyn-Kee-Chow @lynkeeart Kevin Nathaniel @kevinnathanielhealing, Amit Sahu @amsa0929 + special guests.

Union Square Park's center lawn, at the LOV sculpture site, near the Lincoln statue.

This site and time specific work emulates the call & response human interaction technique to examine the possibility of achieving what seems unachievable.

The ‘LOV Sculpture’ is composed of three free-standing letters that spell out a newly created word - LOV - a neologism with its specific meaning of egoless love and pronunciation, /lɔv/. The audience is invited to enact the eclipsed letter E, representing one’s self or ego, by striking ‘the letter E pose’ to the right of the sculpture to interplay the words LOV and ‘Love’. 

The sculpture features a miniature garden titled ‘3 Sisters-Americas.’ Its title refers to the notion of ‘Abya Yala,’ a unified vitality continent in Kuna language and which combines the plants native to the Americas. 

The LOV sculpture also serves as a site for a series of participatory performances titled Unity On Union Square:

About the artist:

Pasha Radetzki, aka pasha Ra, is a visual artist working with public art sculpture, installation, performance, painting and drawing in Manhattan, New York, since 1997.

His artworks received the Future Art Award from Mozaik Philanthropy in Los Angeles in 2022, CodaWorx Award in 2014 and the ArtsLink Award in New York in 2002. 

His public art LOV initiative was awarded the Creative Engagement grant from Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC) in 2023, reSate Foundation grant and the New York Foundation for the Arts fiscal sponsorship in 2024.

Radetzki presented solo exhibitions in New York, U.S., Brazil, Mexico, Belarus and China. His works were featured at dOCUMENTA 13 (Hauptbahnhof, Kassel, Germany), Manifesta 11 (Cabaret Voltaire, Zurich, Switzerland), 4th Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art, 4th Moscow Photo Biennial (Central Exhibition Hall Manezh); Manifesta 4 (Frankfurt, Germany), Beijing 798 Biennial (T Art Center, China) and 8th Cordoba Photo Biennial (Spain)
